I'm not a fan of reality TV, a couple of years ago I was into a season of the Real World but since then I haven't found too much interest. I watched an episode of the Jersey Shore because there was a marathon on and it never fails to be completely ridiculous. I picked an episode from the most recent season where Mike smashes his head into the wall while in a fight with Ronnie. I find it hilarious that he is 30 years old and spends his time picking fights and attempting to get laid. Get a life. The whole thrill of these shows is to showcase these attention starved people.

I agree there becomes an age where what they are stops being entertaining and starts being sad and I think the Jersey Shore that will not realize that and it makes their show much more hard to watch.
ReplyDeleteI think Mike is a prime example of reality stars doing things just because they know it will get them more publicity. He always seems to have his face in the camera and starts drama just so he can get more air time. It's really sad, but he gets paid to do it so why not. I see his face all over the place too. For some reason my facebook subscribed me to his page and all he does is publicity stunts for this company and that company. I would do the same thing I guess if I got paid as much as he did.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more on this subject of reality television Madison. I feel the same way in terms of these reality stars being attention deprived. Jersey Shore is a perfect example because all of the characters showcase their ridiculous lifestyles full of alcohol, sex, and acting like a bunch of animals. People either give in to this type of lifestyle and try to copy it, or laugh at their stupidity and choose to never act in the way those characters do. It really does affect our society in a negative way, especially for young viewers. Much of our generation is caught up in this partying lifestyle and it greatly affects young adults lives because it corrupts them. It brings about this idea that life is one big party, and gives no incentive to work hard, be yourself, and make good choices. This is a great way to show how reality t.v. corrupts our society.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think people watch though? I agree, it's ridiculous...without a doubt. I agree he needs to "get a life"--but why do millions tune in each week to watch him?
ReplyDeleteWhat occurs on Jersey Shore is often ridiculous and pathetic but that is what I think drawls peoples attention. Many people find it entertaining to watch Mike smash his head into a wall or see Sammy and Jenny fight. And they know that's what people like seeing so they are going to play up those parts of the show as much as possible.
