Blog #5

In all honestly, I could not go off and live in the woods for a year with no technology or no other people.  I think the hardest part would be being by myself.  Humans are naturally social beings.  I'd go crazy with nobody to talk to by myself.  However I can see where you'd learn a lot about yourself.  With nothing to concentrate on besides nature and your own wellbeing you'd discover yourself on a deeper level.  It'd be enjoyable to be away from the things going on in the world, such as war and politics, but I think it'd be very lonely after awhile.  Plus I'm no girl scout, I can make fire with a lighter but not with two sticks.  I could pick berries but fashioning something to kill an animal for meat; highly doubtful.  Technology such as television, cell phones, ipods, any of that I could live without.  But we forget about things like plumbing and the fact that we have the ability to flip a switch and get light.  I get straight up pissed when the electricity goes off, it's so frustrating to flip the switch and get no light.

  1. Living alone in the woods with out technology would be difficult but what is more difficult is that fact that no one less is with you. I agree that would would get so lonely and bored. I love talking and not having anyone around to talk to I would probably start talking to myself. I agree also that I could live without technology for an extented amount of time, but not without other people to socialize and communicate with.

  2. You make a good point about getting aggravated for when the power goes out for even a short period of time, imagine having that feeling for over a year,it would be awful.

  3. Again, yeah it would be hard to not have anyone around to talk to. It would also be hard to hunt for food as well, especially if your not a hunter. I think you would find a hidden self that you never knew though.

  4. I wouldn't be able to take care of myself out there either. We live in a time where we aren't taught how to hunt without guns or what food in the wilderness is posioness and what's safe to eat. And also, like you said with plumbing. I would find it extremely disgusting and hard to go to the bathroom outside. I can't even stand port-o-potties, let alone searching for a tree to do my business.

  5. Yeah Im pretty sure I would die. I cant hunt, start a fire or be alone. I would not be able to fend for myself without super markets, walmart or the comfort of a bathroom. honestly I would never even try.
